There is no gain saying that without peace, development is practically impossible, Peace Ambassador Agency “the organisers of Miss Ambassador for Peace Beauty Pageant focused majorly in promoting peace across Nigeria, Africa and the World at large. Women have traditionally played a limited role in peace building processes even though they often bear the responsibility for providing for their families’ basic needs in the aftermath of violent conflict.
They are especially likely to be unrepresented or underrepresented in negotiations, political decision-making, upper-level policy making and senior judicial positions.
Many societies’ cultures prevent them from recognising the role women can play in peace building. However, many peace building academics and the United Nations have recognised that women play a vital role in securing the three pillars of sustainable peace: economic recovery and reconciliation, social cohesion and development and political legitimacy, security and governance.
Peace Ambassador Agency believe strongly that no nation can achieve any meaningful growth and development without a peaceful environment. To enable them achieve this and also maintain their culture and heritage as a nation, they have taking it upon themselves to crusade and advocate about peace to every single Nigerian ranging from the young down to the old to: “Embrace peace and shun violence”
In quest for sustainable peace, Peace Ambassador Agency have tailored their efforts towards Nigerian youths, because in recent times the youths have being a centre point for violence.
The emerged queen will use the medium to advocate and educate the community leaders and school heads including the youths, aiming at creating a society free from drug abuse, child abuse, child labour & molestation, crime and other forms of violence.
More also, the task and responsibility of achieving a sustainable peace is a collective efforts which the agency is equally using this avenue to call all Nigerian, both government agencies, corporate organisations, NGOs and individuals to join hand and let’s make our nation a conducive country for inhabitation.

Miss Nigeria 2013 Ezinne Anyaoha releases stunning new photos
UNILAG Student, Ajibola Obabiyi Wins Muslim World Beauty Pageant (PHOTOS)

21 year old University of Lagos student Obabiyi Aisha Ajibola, beat 19 other beauty hopefuls to emerge Muslimah Queen 2013. Ajibola won the exclusive beauty pageant for Muslim women which took place yesterday, Wednesday, September 18th in Jakarta, Indonesia.
She received 25 million rupiah ($2,200) and trips to Mecca and India as prizes.
The contestants were all required to wear headscarves, covered from head to foot. They were judged on their looks, how well they recited Koranic verses and their views on Islam in the modern world, in front of an audience of mainly religious scholars and devout Muslims.
This pageant was actually staged as a retort to the Miss World pageant holding in the same country. The organizers said they wanted to create awareness within the muslim female community that there is a better form of beauty than the one being portrayed by the Miss World.
They said the pageant is Islam’s answer to the glamorous Miss World Pageant. Congrats to her!

Mixed reactions trail Muslimah beauty pageant won by Nigerian girl

Mixed reactions have trailed the just concluded World Muslimah Beauty Pageant organized for the Islamic womenfolk as a suitable option to the glamorous Miss World beauty pageant. The pageant which held in Jakatar, Indonesia last week, saw young Nigerian University of Lagos student, Aisha Ajibola Olabiyi, clinch the winning title, with a cash prize of $2,200 and a trip to Mecca.
Muslim women and scholars have reacted to the pageant. Some feel the pageant violated the Islamic rule on women, while others say it’s a welcome development. See their reactions below…
“We align with the contest in view of the fact that the criteria were not indecent exposure and provocative postures. The contestants were tested in the areas of recitation of the Glorious Qur’an, Islamic biography, Islamic jurisprudence and current affairs. The event has also proved beyond reasonable doubt that Islam doesn’t repress its women neither does it push them to the background. The event has added another feather to the cap of Nigeria and the African continent as a whole.
However some other scholars have expressed their opinions against the pageant saying “Muslimah beauty is for the husband to see not the world.”
Regardless of the goodness the organizers claim they are trying to achieve with it, the means is totally unlawful and both the end and the means must be justifiable by Islam. finally the prophet made it clear when he said “Whoever copies a group is part of them”
Also speaking against the pageant, the President of the Muslim Students’s Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos Area Unit, Alhaji Qasim Badrudeen said
“We cant commend such act because it is not part of our religion. Our niqab (veil) is not for beauty contest. It is for modesty. Hijab is our epitome of honor and should be treated as such. It should not be used for a dog-to-play thing and we must know that because some people are doing it doesn’t mean we should do it. Remember what our prophet said, anyone that behaves like them is one of them.
Aboo aamir al-Atharee, a popular Ede, Osun state Muslim Scholar said the Paegent is madness, foolishness, craziness, corruption of land calling to lewdness and obscenity. He said
“May Allah help Eka Ashanti, the Indonesian chief organizer of the contest to quick repentance”.
A scholar for the pageant said:
“It is a good initiative but I don’t support the word ‘beauty contest’ because there’s nothing like that in Islam. They should have tagged it ‘The World Quranic Competition or something else instead of pageant”
Aisha Zarumi described the pageant as a sinful act in the sight of Allah. She said
“It is madness of the highest order. Innovation is spreading everywhere. End time is near and the future of our kids is at stake. It is a horrible act, very shameful”
Abiodun Subair said
“It is not what you contest for, simply because others are doing it. Do we really have to follow Christians in everything they do, even when it leads to doom? This is un-Islamic. We are described as the best ummah, so we are meant to be imitated, not imitating or copying people ignorantly.”

Philippines’ representative Megan Young becomes the “most beautiful woman in the world” as she wins the Miss World 2013 title during the pageant’s coronation night on September 28 (Saturday) in Bogor, Bali, Indonesia.
A 23-year-old Filipina-American actress turned beauty queen, overtook 126 candidates from all over the globe, earning first ever Miss World title for the Philippines.
Young was one of the favorite, as she won also won the Top Model challenge event and excelled in the Beach Fashion pre-pageant challenge, where she was among the 11 finalists earlier this month.
In the question and answer portion where the candidates were given 30 seconds to tell the judges why they deserve the crown, Young expressed her belief in a “core value of humanity” which guides people’s actions. She hopes to use this to show others how they may contribute to society.
For the “Beauty with a Purpose” challenge, Megan chose to extend aid to flood victims in the Philippines.
The new Beauty Queen will be departing to London where she will reside during her reign, according to the tradition of the pageant.
Here are the winners:
MISS WORLD: Megan Young (Philippines)
1ST PRINCESS: Marine Lorpheline (France)
2ND PRINCESS: Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter (Ghana)
Almost 700 police were deployed across Bali to provide security for Miss World, backed by traditional Balinese security personnel wearing sarongs and armed with daggers, according to police.
Before the beauty queens took to the stage for Saturday’s final, the audience were treated to a performance by British boy band Blue.
In the weeks leading up to the final, the contestants took part in a series of “challenge” events for which they were awarded points.
These include a “beach fashion” round, which this year saw contestants swap the pageant’s famed bikinis for sarongs in a bid to avoid causing offence in Muslim-majority Indonesia.
The finalists also faced a question-and-answer round from a panel of judges.
A total of 129 contestants had been due to compete in the final but two pulled out at the last minute, according to organisers.
